STRATEGIC PLANNING OVERVIEW
What is Strategic Planning?
In broad terms, think of Strategic Planning as a moment of community self-reflection on how we’re doing as a City, where we want to be in a few years and how we plan on getting there. The conventional definition is:
A collaborative process between City Council, Staff and Community to:
1) establish priority initiatives (Community Goals) for the near-term future (2-5 years),
2) develop the necessary procedures and operations (Action Objectives) to achieve that future,
3) determine how that future is to be realized (Success Metrics).
The Strategic Plan is a guide for moving the City forward toward our desired future. Accomplishing the plan’s goals and objectives will serve as a roadmap as we travel forward with planned timelines and pitstops.
